Egypt localizes industries to support metallurgy
The Egyptian government has unveiled a 10-year strategy for the development of the metallurgical sector, aiming to transform the country into a regional steel hub.
The plan focuses on localizing auxiliary industries that serve the steel value chain — from refractories and refractory cements to various support materials and components.
By fostering domestic production, Egypt seeks to reduce import dependency and strengthen its industrial self-sufficiency.
The initiative is expected to stimulate investment in refractory, construction, and insulation materials, while also creating new jobs in the country’s industrial zones.
