German-Brazilian refractory producer EKW do Brasil Produtos Refratários, headquartered in Santa Catarina, has officially joined the Brazilian Waste-to-Energy Association (ABREN).

In its announcement, EKW emphasized its commitment to developing high-temperature refractory solutions for metallurgy, foundries, cement, glass, and petrochemical industries — all aligned with Brazil’s growing focus on sustainable industrial innovation.

According to Yuri Schmikte, president of ABREN, the entry of EKW Brasil reinforces the association’s strategy of combining industrial decarbonization, circular economy principles, and innovation in thermal materials.

This partnership underlines the shift toward eco-efficient refractory technologies in Brazil, positioning EKW Brasil among the key players driving low-emission materials for high-temperature processes in Latin America.
